China: My new home

I arrived here in China back in in early August 2015.. The plane ride was long and exhausting but I met a Buddhist monk on my first leg of the journey, and on the second part I sat next to a man who was visiting family in Hong Kong before backpacking across Japan. I also had the privileged to sit near Marla who was also coming here to teach. We ended up talking almost the entire plane trip. Once we arrived in Hong Kong we had to take a ferry to mainland China, then a bus to where we now live.  The  total time from my departure to when I arrived at my new apartment was a little over 24 hours. Due to the extensive amount of travel time I will go ahead and say any visitors coming this way must stay for an extensive vacation to make it worth your while.

The school had set me up in a nice apartment, already furnished. Near the school are a couple international stores, though the food is expensive. Nearby to where I live is a Wal-Mart, though very different than ones state-side. My apartment is nice and furnished, though small on American standards. My kitchen is tiny and there is no dish washer. The washing machine is located in the bathroom, but there is dryer as people here air dry their clothes. Overall I foresee this being a grand adventure I am thrilled to take.
