Victory Day

Reposted from Sept 6th 2015

So I was able to enjoy a four day weekend this week, which was very much needed. The reason for this four day weekend you ask…Victory Day. Apparently every decade China really ramps up their celebration of the end of WWII and the (their) victory over Japan. China had a huge military parade in Beijing that doubled as a way to show off their power. Large groups of personnel would march in perfect stride. Large military trucks carrying missiles would go by. Jets would fly overhead.  It was really quite a show, and to top it off China even had ally countries march their armies as well. Afterwards President XI gave a speech. This was a major production. Factories were closed for a week in Beijing, streets were cleaned up, locals were banned from being 200 yards from the parade, the skies were cleared of birds….major work went into this.

To top it off a video was even made by the military to show what would happen if another country tries to attack one of their bases. It is times like this I am reminded I am not in America anymore.
